US Federal Transit Administration: Transit Noise and Vibration Assessment Manual, 2018.

September 29, 2020

The publication, “A Reduced Scale Railway Noise Barrier’s Insertion Loss and Absorption Coefficients: Comparison of Field Measurements and Predictions” by Todd A. Busch, Ramon E. Nugent in the Journal of Sound & Vibration October 2003 has been recognized by the US Federal Transit Administration within their 2018 noise and vibration guideline. The reference substantiates assumptions regarding the performance of railway noise barriers along the right of way.

National Building Code of Canada 2025

May 9, 2020

Todd Busch is serving as a member of the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC) working on task groups considering possible changes to the National Building Code of Canada on subjects related to sound transmission, impact insulation, and low-frequency equipment noise within residential occupancies. This is a 5-year appointment which would culminate with the future release of the updated Code in 2025.

Paperwork

February 23, 2020

Just started the process of getting my California Professional Engineer (P.E.) registration and NCEES record transferred to a variety of American states: Arizona, Nevada, Oregon, Texas, Florida, Georgia, New York and Massachusetts. Despite the utility of the NCEES record transfer, which cuts down on the need to supply redundant application information to each state, there is still a lot of paperwork to do!
